On my way to work this afternoon, I witnessed an extraordinary
report on the
BBC World Service.
John Simpson was reporting live from Iraq on a remarkably clear line (satellite, on supposes)
so that you could hear fires burning in the background. His convoy was just
hit by a bomb, and
while he's reporting you can hear an American breaking in, saying something like "is that leg allright?"
Sure enough Simpson caught some shrapnel in his leg, which he hadn't noticed yet.
